What is the difference between Joint Tenants and Tenants in Common?
One of the main differences between the two types of shared ownership is what happens to the property when one of the owners dies. When a property is owned by joint tenants with right of survivorship, the interest of a deceased owner automatically gets transferred to the remaining surviving owners. For example, if four joint tenants own a timeshare and one of them dies, each of the three remaining joint tenants ends up with a one-third share of the property. This is called the right of survivorship. Tenants in common have no rights of survivorship. The deceased individual's Last Will and Testament specifies that his or her interest in the property is to be divided among the surviving owners, a deceased tenant in common's interest belongs to his or her estate; Colorado law requires the heirs to go through Colorado probate and filed in Eagle County Colorado. If there was not a will (intestate), the State will need to process the estate and Colorado Probate will need to be completed in order to transfer the timeshare interest. All Colorado probate documents will need to be filed and recorded in Eagle County.
Back to topHow to transfer my timeshare to a new owner?
First call The Christie Lodge Owner Services department at 800.845.0257. We will discuss your situation and then advise you on the best way to transfer. In most cases the person receiving the timeshare is sent an Acceptance Form to fill out and then sign in the presence of a notary. Return the completed form to ownerservices@christielodge.com with a copy of a picture ID. Owner Services will send a Quit Claim Deed to the current owner(s) to sign in the presence of a notary and send to Eagle County Clerk & Recorder.

Back to topWhat is the owner pet policy?
We have three pet-friendly units at the lodge. If one is available to be booked, they can be reserved for $20/night for owners. Only one dog is allowed per unit and the pet is not allowed to be left alone in the unit at any time. To inquire about availability or for any questions, contact reservations at 888.325.6343. (Out of Service for updates until August 1, 2020.)
Back to topWhat is the owner week booking policy?
Owners can book weeks up to 360 days prior to check-in, within their color season as long as they are current with their maintenance fees and there is availability in the desired week. You can make these reservations by calling reservations at 888.325.6343 or via the online owner portal.
Back to topWhat is the Internal Exchange policy?
The internal exchange program is available to owners who choose to deposit their reserved week directly back to the Christie Lodge to attempt to substitute the week with another week within two years of the departure date of the deposited week. This program operates based on inventory and using “waitlist dates”. For more information, please contact your Christie Lodge Reservations Team at 888.325.6343.
Back to topHow do I request an External Exchange with RCI or Interval International?
When exchanging externally, you must first call Christie Lodge Reservations at 888.325.6343 or use the online owner portal to set up a reservation to deposit. When you make your reservation, you can request to have your week banked to either RCI or Interval International. Alternatively, you can bank this directly with your exchange company yourself, but we recommend allowing us to assist you to expedite deposit verifications and save you the time of doing so. *Fixed week owners do not need to set up their reservations as they are already assigned but can request this service as well*
Back to topWhat is the policy for Owner Bonus Nights and Bonus Weeks?
- Owners are allotted 12 bonus nights per calendar year. These can be used by owners and their immediate or extended family and rates are based on time of year, size of the unit, and your relation to the guest. They can only be booked within 30 days of the desired arrival date and are not guaranteed as they are based on having excess inventory.
- Owners are allotted 1 bonus week per calendar year. These can be used by owners or any guest of their choice and can be booked up to a year in advance. Rates will vary by time of year and unit size and reservations are paid in full at the time of booking and become immediately non-refundable.

Back to topHow do room requests work?
Owners can make room requests any time after their reservation has been booked. These requests are taken by first-come-first-serve basis with owners having priority over hotel guests and are not guaranteed until the time of arrival. You may make these requests by calling reservations at 888.325.6343.

Back to topHow do I exit my timeshare?
There are 3 options available for exiting your timeshare with The Christie Lodge. Before we go over the options there are a few requirements you must meet. The title must be clear; if you are not sure call Owner Services at 1-800.845.0257, any loans paid in full and a Release of Deed of Trust recorded in Eagle County, Maintenance Fees current.
The 3 options are:
- Hardship Case: $12K or less in annual income, per individual owner on title. You must prove this with Social Security and income tax return or other income accordingly.
- Pay it forward Program: You would have to pay maintenance fees in advance to the Christie Lodge, if you own Red Winter and Gold Weeks (4) four years fees or (5) five years fees for Red Summer, Blue and White Weeks and deed your interest back to the Christie Lodge Owners Association. The Christie Lodge would provide the paperwork to complete this process. This allows the Owners Association to resell the property for a nominal fee to a third party and until then not pass the cost to the other owners. Your obligations end when you submit the monies and clear title back to the Association.
- Sell or list your property via your own marketing tools. There are a few websites that are working for the Owners that have sold their units. They are craigslist.com, redweek.com and Tug2.net. Please just ask for the minimal service of just listing for sale because they can charge a hefty fee for handling the closing and we will do it for free. Once you find a viable buyer, we can help you with the paperwork and transfer of title process. The cost involved is $13.00 to the seller and $75.00 to the buyer(s).
Does my timeshare end in 2022?
The short answer is no. There was an owner vote taken in at the 2011 annual meeting, extending the next vote to 2062. Please click the link to see Amendment 3 explaining the vote.
